KINGSBURG, CA (May 14, 2020) – An 18-year-old woman from Ivanhoe was killed, and four others were injured, in a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 99, south of Sierra Street.
It started with an initial crash that occurred just after 10:30 p.m., when the 18-year-old woman, who was driving south on Highway 99, lost control of her 2006 Honda and crashed into a concrete barrier wall. She sat in her car for around two minutes, waiting for first responders, when another vehicle slammed into her.
The driver of that vehicle, a Toyota Corolla, was identified as 24-year-old Daniel Ismael Sanchez. Shortly after the second collision, a 2011 Chevrolet Impala collided into the two vehicles.
The driver of that vehicle, 28-year-old Santiago Aguilar Galicio, sustained minor injuries, along with two children in his car. Sanchez also suffered minor injuries. The 18-year-old woman was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center with critical injuries, where she died a short time later.
California Highway Patrol is still investigating the cause of the fatal collision.
