SACRAMENTO, CA (April 14, 2020) – Three people were killed and two others were injured in a crash on Highway 160 near West Sherman Island Road, south of Rio Vista.
Around 7 p.m., a 23-year-old man driving south in his 2017 Toyota Tundra was witnessed swerving left into the southbound lanes, before swerving to the right and overcorrecting back to the left. As a result, he struck the passenger side of a 2001 Saturn sedan carrying a 27-year-old woman and two men.
Both vehicles struck the guardrail on the west side of the road. All three occupants of the Saturn were pronounced dead at the scene. The 23-year-old driver of the Toyota and a male passenger sustained minor injuries and were transported to the hospital.
California Highway Patrol are still investigating, but believe drugs or alcohol to be a factor in the collision.
