RIVERSIDE, CA (April 6, 2020) – A 34-year-old man from Moreno Valley was killed after he ran a red light in his vehicle, crashed into another car, and then struck a brick wall.
The deadly crash happened around 9:45 a.m. at the intersection of Campus Parkway and Day Street. The 34-year-old victim, whose name has not yet been released, was driving west on Campus Parkway in his 2009 Dodge Avenger when he reached Day Street and ran a red light.
A 51-year-old Moreno Valley man driving a 2018 Ford Focus sustained minor injuries when he was traveling south on Day Street and was struck by the Dodge illegally crossing the intersection.
After striking the Ford, the Dodge then crashed into a brick wall. The 34-year-old Dodge driver was transported to the hospital, but succumbed to his injuries just minutes later. He had not been wearing his seat belt at the time of the collision.
Drugs and alcohol have not yet been ruled out as factors in the crash.
