POMONA, CA (April 29, 2019)– Ellen Cavalli, 75, was killed after colliding into a big rig on the Eastbound 10 freeway in Pomona at Dudley street, not far from the White Avenue off ramp.
Witnesses told the CHP that the Hyundai sedan that Cavalli was riding passenger in rear-ended the big rig at a high rate of speed. The 4:23 a.m deadly accident left the sedan wedged under the big rig. Cavalli was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Hyundai reportedly suffered major injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Traffic was backed up as only one lane was open. The fatal accident comes after another crash, less than an hour earlier, between a car and a big rig on the Eastbound 10 near Garey Avenue. The big rig caught fire as a result of the 3:40 am crash. Both drivers reportedly exited the vehicles. It is unknown if either parties suffered any injuries.
A SigAlert was issued for this area around 4 a.m to clean-up both accidents. All lanes were open again by 9:30 a.m.
Both crashes come after light rainfall in the area made roadways slick.
