SAN BERNARDINO, CA (August 27, 2019) – Two children, 14-year-old Jason Castellano and 10-year-old Heather Durham, were killed in a pedestrian and motorcycle-involved collision on Sierra Way and 18th Street.
Just before 3:30 p.m., a vehicle traveling south on Sierra Way struck Castellano as he was crossing the street at 18th Street. Immediately following this initial crash, a motorcycle that had been traveling behind the vehicle collided with the vehicle.
Both riders on the motorcycle were ejected, including Durham. Castellano, Durham, and the 20-year old male driver of the motorcycle were transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Castellano and Durham were pronounced dead a short time later.
The 37-year-old woman driving the vehicle involved was not injured. It is still unknown what caused the accident. The crash is still under investigation.
