FOLSOM, CA (May 15, 2019) – A man was killed in a pedestrian-involved auto accident on Blue Ravine Road at Natoma Station Drive after the driver failed to stop in time to avoid hitting him.
According to the Folsom Police Department, the deadly crash was reported just before 6 a.m. The driver, only described as a male adult, was driving west on Blue Ravine Road when he struck the pedestrian, according to Detective Melanie Catanio with the Folsom Police Department. Following the accident, the driver stayed at the scene and was given a field sobriety test.
Catanio said the driver told police that he saw the pedestrian in the crosswalk at the last second, but could not brake in time. He also stated that he believed he had the green light.
The roadway was closed until around 10 a.m. while police investigated the cause of the accident. There were multiple witnesses to the crash; they were interviewed for their accounts of the fatal incident.
The identity of the victim will be released by the coroner’s office, once the victim’s family is notified.
