RIVERSIDE, CA (August 19, 2019) – Marcus Figueroa Jr., 20, was killed in a hit-and-run around 8:30 p.m. on Indiana Avenue.
Authorities stated that Figueroa was getting ready to go to the movies with his friends, when he realized he had forgotten something from his house and exited the vehicle. While attempting to cross the street back to his house, a dark sedan struck him at a high rate of speed.
Figueroa’s friends stated that the collision sent the victim flying through the air. First responders were called to the scene, where Figueroa’s body still lay in the road. He was transported to the hospital, but later died from his injuries.
Indiana Avenue, between Monroe Street and Haskell Street, was closed while police investigated. Riverside Police is asking for anyone with information about the driver who fled the scene to call them.
Cars regularly speed down that street, according to neighbors of Figueroa.
