GOLETA, CA (February 9, 2020) – Mary Jane Becerra Corral and Adolfo Corral, both 44, were killed in a hit-and-run with a suspected drunk driver on Cathedral Oaks Road, east of Ellwood Ridge Road.
The collision occurred just after 5 p.m., according to California Highway Patrol. The Corrals were out walking their dog when they were struck by the vehicle. One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene, while another was transported to the hospital, where they passed a short time later.
The suspect in the deadly crash, Eric Mauricio Ramirez Aguilar, 39, fled the scene on foot. He was found a few hours later riding as a passenger in another vehicle. That driver of that vehicle was not involved in the hit and run and was released at the scene of Aguilar’s arrest.
Aguilar was taken into custody on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, fleeing the scene, and hit and run causing injury or death, among a couple of other charges.
