Moreno Valley, CA (November 04, 2021) – Maria Kritzberger, 57, was killed in a crash with another vehicle on Heacock Street, near Revere Place in Riverside County.
The collision was reported around 05:43 a.m. Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene shortly thereafter. Kritzberger had been traveling northbound on Heacock Street in her silver Toyota Camry, when the driver of a southbound red Kia Optima fell asleep and veered into the northbound lanes causing a head-on collision.
First responders found Kritzberger trapped inside until Cal Fire was able to extricate them. They had suffered life-threatening injuries at the time of the crash and were pronounced dead at the scene. The defendant suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a local area hospital. There were no passengers in either car.
At this time, alcohol and drugs are not suspected as factors in the deadly crash.
