LONG BEACH, CA (May 20, 2019) – A woman pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Pacific Avenue near 25th street around 9:20 p.m. Two people were detained following the fatal accident.
Lt. Abram Yap with the Long Beach Police Department stated that the victim, only described as a 44-year old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders. Investigators believe the woman was run over multiple times after the initial accident, while lying in the road. Only one driver from one of those vehicles returned to provide a statement to the police, but it was not the first car that hit her.
Shortly after the incident, police found a vehicle a few blocks away that they believed to be involved in the initial hit-and-run of the pedestrian. A 2003 white Ford Explorer was discovered on Long Beach Boulevard and 32nd Street, and two people were placed in custody. Those two people have since been released.
Police believe the suspect is a woman in her 30s and that she changed clothes after fleeing the accident. The victim has still not been identified, and investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
