SILVERADO CANYON, CA (July 7, 2019) – Four people are dead following a violent motorcycle collision on East Santiago Canyon Road. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department has identified the victims as Regina Michelle Crowder, 48, Jon Michael Schwarz, 50, David Mark Terman, 59, and Edith Mae Hegy, 62.
The fatal crash happened around 4:30 p.m., when two people traveling northbound on a Harley Davidson motorcycle attempted to pass a slower-moving vehicle on a blind curve. That was when they collided with a Honda motorcycle traveling the other direction, also carrying two people.
Authorities have stated that the accident was so forceful that all of the victims were ejected, ending up yards away from the point of impact. All four were pronounced dead at the scene. It has not yet been released who was riding on which motorcycle, only that Crowder and Schwarz were in a long-term relationship.
California Highway Patrol Officer Florentino Olivera said the crash was “probably one of the worst ones we’ve seen in a while.” Santiago Canyon Road is reportedly popular with many Californians seeking joyrides due to its lack of stop signs.
