SANTA BARBARA, CA (October 25, 2019) – Rebecca Vanessa Goss Bey, 34, and two children, were killed in a fiery head-on crash on Highway 154, near Cold Springs Bridge.
Just before 5 p.m., Bey was heading eastbound in her Chevy Volt when, for unknown reasons, a Chevy Camaro being driven by 28-year-old John Roderick Dungan going the opposite direction crossed the yellow lines and struck Bey head-on.
A GMC Yukon behind Bey was unable to avoid the accident and collided into her from behind, sending both vehicles crashing into the shoulder of the freeway before catching fire. Bey, along with two children in the backseat of the Volt who have yet to be identified, were pronounced dead at the scene.
A man and son in the GMC were not hurt. Dungan was airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but many say that speed-related crashes happen often on this portion of Highway 154.
