SUNNYVALE, CA (November 26, 2019) – A teenage boy was killed and four others were injured when two cars collided on Highway 85 near Cupertino.
Just before 11 a.m., a 2003 Toyota Corolla was driving southbound on Highway 85 when for unknown reasons the driver lost control and swerved off the road before veering back onto the road and colliding with a 1999 Ford truck.
The Toyota eventually ended up in an embankment. A teenage boy that was sitting in the backseat was ejected from the vehicle and transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead a little over an hour later.
The 46-year-old male driver of the Toyota, as well as a 46-year-old female passenger and two other children sustained undisclosed injuries. The driver of the Ford was uninjured.
The southbound side of Highway 85 to the interchange for Interstate 280 was closed for a period of time following the deadly crash.
