Vacaville, CA (January 10, 2022) – Roberto Marmolejo (43) died in a collision at westbound Interstate 80 (I-80) in Vacaville, CA. The incident happened on January 10 at around 5 am.
According to authorities, Marmolejo was driving a Toyota Sienna with a passenger, Sylvia Lopez-Martinez (44). It was unclear which lane they were on when the crash happened.
They were traveling on I-80 near Alamo Drive when Marmolejo changed lanes. He crashed into a trailer being towed by a Freightliner big rig. Afterwards, the Sienna went and rolled off the freeway. Both Mormolejo and Lopez-Martinez were ejected from their vehicle.
Rigoberto Cerna (43) was identified as the driver of the Freightliner big rig. He sustained no injuries, Lopez-Martinez got major injuries from the incident. Marmolejo was taken to Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
According to reports, it is unclear if there was any involvement of drugs or alcohol. Investigation for this case is currently ongoing.
