TAFT, CA (May 28, 2020) – A woman sustained major injuries after her vehicle was struck by a drunk driver, who then fled the scene, at Wood Street and Lierly Avenue.
The crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. A man in a Chevrolet Cruz ran a stop sign at Wood Street while driving south on Lierly Avenue. He then collided with a woman in a Ford, pushing both vehicles into the front yard of a house on Lierly.
The woman, who has not yet been identified, became pinned in her vehicle after the collision. The suspect fled on foot, but was arrested a few blocks away from the scene of the crash.
The woman was transported to Kern Medical with multiple injuries, including a broken pelvis and a broken femur.
The man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
