Merced County, CA (June 23, 2022) – Ieli Paulo Ieli (33) of Merced and Andres Hernandez Diaz (22) were identified as the fatalities in a multi-vehicle collision involving a big rig in Merced County. According to Merced Sun-Star, the collision reportedly occurred around 4:15 am on Tuesday.
A Volvo big rig reportedly turned into oncoming traffic and crashed into three vehicles.
The California Highway Patrol responded to reports of a collision involving three vehicles and a big rig near Furtado Road on Tuesday.
When authorities arrived, two men were pronounced dead at the scene. They later identified the victims as Ieli Paulo Ieli of Merced and Andres Hernandez Diaz.
Then, one of the victims, Ieli Paulo Ieli, was driving a 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe. The other victim, Andres Hernandez Diaz, was a passenger in a 2011 Ford Fusion.
Further reports say that a Volvo big rig reportedly turned into oncoming traffic and crashed into three vehicles.
Meanwhile, the 2011 Ford Fusion driver sustained major injuries. The other drivers, including the big rig driver, reportedly did not suffer from any injuries.
