SAN DIEGO, CA (March 3, 2020) – One man was killed and a woman was seriously injured in a possible DUI-involved collision on Interstate 15, near Lake Hodges.
The collision occurred just before 12:30 a.m. when a gold Lexus SUV for unknown reasons swerved off the freeway into an embankment before overturning and rolling back onto the freeway, where it was then struck by an oncoming big rig.
It is unclear who was driving the Lexus, but the two occupants- a man and a woman- were both ejected into the roadway. The man, 24, was then hit and killed by another oncoming vehicle, a Chevrolet Cruz.
The woman, 20, was transported to Palomar Medical Center with severe injuries. It is unknown if any occupants of the big rig or Chevrolet Cruz were injured as well.
California Highway Patrol have stated that intoxication appears to be a factor in the fatal crash.
