PALMDALE, CA (January 23, 2020) – One woman was killed and seven others were injured, two critically, in two separate crashes involving a drunk driver on Pearblossom Hwy and Avenue S at 25th Street East.
Around 8 p.m., a woman was out walking a friend’s dog on Pearblossom Hwy when a man driving under the influence swerved onto the shoulder of the highway and struck her, killing her. The man, who has since been identified as 62-year-old Alfredo Rodriguez, then fled the scene.
A short time later, he was involved in a second crash on Avenue S at 25th Street, which injured seven. Two of those injured are said to be in critical condition.
Rodriguez was also transported to the hospital for minor injuries. He has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
