MIRAMAR, CA (October 15, 2019) – One person was killed and another was injured in a collision with a semi-truck on the northbound I-15 near Miramar Way. The collision resulted in a sedan catching fire.
The California Highway Patrol stated that around 3 a.m., a green sedan collided directly into a big rig in a northbound lane of the I-15 before bursting into flames. Police who were on the scene first made attempts to put out the fire, but it was not until firefighters arrived that they were able to put it out.
The driver of the sedan was trapped inside the vehicle during the blaze and died from their injuries. The sedan’s passengers, only identified as a woman, was able to escape with injuries to her arms and face.
The big rig driver, who was the first one to call the police to report the accident, did not sustain serious injuries. All lanes of northbound I-15, except for one, were closed until 5:30 a.m. for clean-up and investigation.
