SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA (March 24, 2020) – At least one person was killed in a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 17, south of Los Gatos.
Just before 3 a.m., The California Highway Patrol received reports of the crash in the southbound lanes of Highway 17, south of the South Santa Cruz Avenue on-ramp.
The victim, only identified as a 22-year-old man, was driving a 2017 Mazda when, for unknown reasons, he swerved into the highway shoulder before swerving back across the highway and crashing into the center divider.
The man was then hit by an oncoming Toyota Prius and ejected from the vehicle. It is unclear if he had not been wearing his seat belt the entire time or if he had removed it just prior to being hit by the Toyota.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. It is unclear if anyone else involved in the deadly collision sustained injuries.
