SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, CA (July 13, 2019) – Fifteen people were injured, some majorly, when a big rig crossed the center divider on the I-15, about 20 miles from Baker.
The accident happened around 3 p.m., when a semi truck, for unknown reasons, crossed the divider and struck eight vehicles on the northbound I-15. Pictures from the crash show the semi stopped on the northbound side of the I-15, blocking the no.2 lane, along with several other vehicles visibly damaged on the side of the road.
According to CHP reports, one person was ejected from their vehicle, and another became trapped inside their white Ford, and had to be freed by first responders. One person also suffered a heart attack.
Three people were transported urgently to the hospital by air, and twelve more were transported by ambulances.
According to one witness, it was 113 degrees outside at the time of the accident. The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation.
