San Jacinto, CA (August 28, 2023) – One Corona man succumbed to injuries after a Gilman Springs Road crash in San Jacinto. Eight others also sustained injuries from the collision. According to Patch, the collision happened around 9:15 p.m. on Sunday.

A Gilman Springs Road crash just northwest of San Jacinto resulted in the death of a 30-year-old Corona man and injuries to eight others as his vehicle drifted into opposing traffic and hit a minivan head-on.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 9:15 p.m. on Sunday on Gilman Springs Road, between Kennedy Hill Road and Bridge Street.
Officer Jason Montez informed City News Service that the driver of a 2011 Kia Forte, a resident of Corona, was traveling northbound on Gilman Springs when, for unknown reasons, he “crossed over the divided highway” and entered the southbound lanes.
Simultaneously, a 2016 Nissan Quest minivan driven by a 48-year-old San Jacinto woman traveled southbound at the exact location.
The Nissan driver encountered the Kia directly in front of her, preventing her from swerving, and the two vehicles collided head-on.
Emergency responders from Cal Fire or Riverside County Fire Department arrived within minutes and pronounced the Kia driver dead at the scene. However, his identity remains undisclosed.
Meanwhile, a Kia passenger, a 36-year-old woman from Corona, sustained significant injuries. Police then transported her to an Inland Empire trauma center for medical care.
Additionally, the Nissan driver and seven car occupants, including girls aged 13, 17, and 18, and an 11-year-old boy, suffered injuries. Montez mentioned that authorities brought the 13-year-old girl to a hospital in serious but stable condition.
Furthermore, the CHP stated that neither alcohol nor drugs contributed to this Gilman Springs Road crash.
