A fatal I-15 crash in Corona prompted the issuance of a SigAlert on Thursday afternoon on southbound Interstate 15 at Cajalco Road in Corona, as confirmed by the California Highway Patrol.
Tragically, at least one person lost their life at the scene, and another is in critical condition.
According to the authorities, a pickup truck collided with a sedan near the Cajalco offramp, overturning the smaller vehicle and ejecting at least one occupant.
Passersby, who witnessed the incident, immediately halted and assisted the ejected individual, whose identity has not been revealed. They performed CPR until paramedics from the Corona Fire Department arrived in under 10 minutes.
Paramedics then conducted resuscitation efforts, but the individual succumbed to fatal injuries at the scene shortly after 1 p.m.
Meanwhile, the second individual sustained life-threatening injuries, and responders transported them to Riverside Community Hospital for medical treatment.
Moreover, the Cajalco Road offramp will remain closed for an unspecified duration as the agency investigates the cause of this I-15 crash.
In response to debris scattered onto the offramp, the CHP requested the assistance of a sweeper to clear the area.
