Livermore, CA (July 19, 2023) – A reckless I-580 RV crash caused multiple injuries and vehicle damages on Altamont Pass in Livermore. The RV plowed into at least 19 vehicles during the crash. According to FOX News, the crash was reported around 6:04 p.m. on Monday.

Officer Robert Purl from the California Highway Patrol reported a reckless I-580 RV crash that caused multi-vehicle collisions on Altamont Pass in Livermore.
Eyewitness Wang described how the motorhome “plowed” through the traffic, causing havoc and continuing to drive, smashing into cars. He captured the aftermath, showing the damaged vehicles and one car flipped on its side.
A patrol officer from Dublin, California, witnessed the RV going 35 mph and passing cars on the right shoulder. The driver recklessly crashed into another vehicle on an off-ramp but kept going.
The patrol officer attempted a traffic stop, but the RV refused to yield.
Consequently, a chase ensued, leading to an off-ramp with light traffic, where the RV eventually became disabled.
After 18 minutes, the suspect surrendered and was taken into custody.
The CHP has not provided the suspect’s identity or disclosed the number of individuals injured in the incident.
