The Los Angeles Police Department reported a fatal hit-and-run crash near 109th Street and Central Avenue in Watts.
The victim was identified by her family as Marie Alexander.
According to authorities, surveillance cameras from a nearby market captured the tragic accident on video. The victim was reportedly trying to cross the street when a dark-colored Chevrolet fatally struck her. The driver of the said vehicle did not stop and fled the scene.
A search for the hit-and-run driver is underway. The investigators believe that the vehicle is likely to be damaged on its front end.
Surviving family members of Marie Alexander said they will not stop until they get justice. They hope that the driver will do the right thing.
