BEAUMONT, CA (September 5, 2019) – Mitchell Finesod, 55, was taken into CHP custody following an accident on the 60 freeway resulting in the deaths of two people, and the injuries of five others.
The fatal accident happened around 1:10 p.m., just east of Gilman Springs Road, in the westbound lanes of the Moreno Valley freeway. Finesod was illegally passing cars on the right shoulder in his white 1993 Corvette, when he clipped a semi-trailer and spun out towards the median.
He then struck a black Jaguar SUV, killing the male driver and female passenger instantly. Two other passengers in the vehicle sustained injuries and were hospitalized. Three other unidentified people involved in the accident were injured.
Finesod was not injured. At least part of the roadway was closed off until 4:30 p.m. for investigation and clean-up. Many motorists were stuck in the traffic back-up caused by the crash.
