FALLBROOK, CA (August 17, 2019) – A motorcyclist was killed in a DUI-involved crash on northbound Interstate 15, just north of State Route 76 and south of Mission Road.
Around 4:30 a.m., a 24-year-old Menifee man in his Hyundai Sonata approached in the lane behind the Harley Davidson motorcyclist at a “significantly faster speed” than the motorcyclist, according to the CHP. The driver reportedly did not see the motorcyclist in his lane and proceeded to hit him, ejecting him from his motorcycle.
The driver then ran over the motorcyclist, who was lying on the pavement. The motorcyclist suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The CHP stated that he had not yet been identified due to the extent of his injuries.
The driver of the Hyundai was given a sobriety test at the scene, and was subsequently arrested on suspicion of DUI. All northbound lanes were closed following the accident for clean up; all lanes were reopened by 10 a.m.
