FRESNO, CA (August 11, 2019) – A motorcyclist was killed in a head-on accident on Highway 41, near Harlan Avenue.
Just after 2:30 p.m., the motorcyclist going southbound on State Route 41 was struck by a Range Rover traveling north. The SUV was attempting to pass another car on the two-lane highway, but failed to see the motorcyclist in the other lane.
Sgt. Edward Jacobs stated that the Range Rover was pulling out to pass a bigger car and sped up but “the motorcyclist was right there and not able to escape.”
The motorcyclist, only identified as a man in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Range Rover was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.
Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the crash. At this time, drugs or alcohol is not suspected as a factor.
