VAN NUYS, CA (October 1, 2019) – Neri Ramirez Chalo, 22, was killed in a hit-and-run crash resulting from a street race, as he attempted to cross the street on Sepulveda Blvd.
Around 10 p.m., Chalo was crossing the street on Sepulveda Blvd, just south of Hatteras Street, when he noticed two cars speeding towards him. He attempted to run out of the way but was struck by a 2008 white Infiniti G37, which sent him flying down the roadway.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Infiniti was spotted about a half mile away from the crime scene abandoned. Police have identified 21-year-old Robert Ocampo as a person of interest, but he has yet to come forward.
LADP has not named any other suspects in the street racing incident. They are offering a $50,000 reward for anyone that provides information leading to Ocampo’s apprehension.
