Two People Killed in a Fatal Car Collision in Orcutt
Orcutt, CA (July 5, 2022) – Hermilo Vasquez-Mendez (41) and Melisa Michelle Gonzalez-Bautista (18) were identified as the fatalities in a car collision in Orcutt. According to KSBY, the incident occurred around 10:15 pm on Saturday.
Two people in separate vehicles were killed after the collision on Highway 1 and Highway 135 in Orcutt.
The California Highway Patrol reported a crash involving three vehicles on Highway 1 and Highway 135 in Orcutt on Saturday.
Authorities found two fatalities at the scene. One of the victims was Melisa Michelle Gonzalez-Bautista. She was a passenger in the car that was struck by another vehicle.
Then, the other victim was identified as Hermilo Vasquez-Mendez. He was the driver of the other vehicle that struck Bautista’s car.
According to reports, Mendez managed to get out of his vehicle after it rolled over. Unfortunately, he died at the scene after an oncoming vehicle struck him.
Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle that Bautista was in also sustained injuries.
Authorities reported that Mendez drove his vehicle at a high rate of speed when he crashed into the left-rear side of the other vehicle.
