Sutter County, CA (July 27, 2023) – Three drivers sustained injuries after two separate vehicle collisions in a Sutter County car crash. According to KCRA 3, the accident happened around 7:20 a.m. on Thursday.

The California Highway Patrol responded to a Sutter County car crash where two separate vehicle collisions occurred along Highway 70 near Striplin Road.
The accident resulted in three injured drivers, including a US Marshal who attempted to help the victims of the initial accident.
According to Officer Brian Danielson, spokesperson for the CHP’s Yuba-Sutter office, a white SUV veered off course due to the driver falling asleep at the wheel. The SUV then collided with the back end of a semi-truck without a trailer.
Meanwhile, on the opposite side of the highway, a U.S. Marshal task force traveling in slow-moving traffic witnessed the initial crash and decided to assist the motorists involved. He executed a U-turn through an opening in the center divider to reach the scene quickly.
However, as the U.S. Marshal’s vehicle was making its way back, a white sedan behind failed to notice the slowing traffic. Subsequently, it rear-ended the marshal’s car, causing further damage and injuries.
Following the incidents, responders took the driver of the initial crash to a nearby hospital for medical attention with non-life-threatening injuries. The U.S. Marshal and driver in the second crash also sustained minor injuries.
