Antelope, CA (September 19, 2023) – A 14-year-old boy, Nathan Gebreamlak of Antelope, died in an Antelope scooter crash after a vehicle hit him. According to The Sacramento Bee, the collision occurred around 10:35 p.m. on Monday.

A tragic Antelope scooter crash occurred Monday night, resulting in the death of a young boy who was struck by a car while riding his scooter.
According to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office, 14-year-old Nathan Gebreamlak of Antelope succumbed to his injuries after responders transported him to Mercy San Juan Medical Center.
The California Highway Patrol said that the incident occurred around 10:35 p.m. when a 50-year-old Antelope resident driving through the intersection of Don Julio Boulevard and Poker Lane struck a 14-year-old boy in a scooter.
Additionally, the CHP’s North Sacramento office reported that the driver had a green light when the boy rode into the vehicle’s path outside a designated crosswalk.
Moreover, CHP spokesman Officer Justin Fetterly clarified that they did not issue a citation to the driver. Furthermore, authorities ruled out the involvement of alcohol and drugs as contributing factors in the Antelope scooter crash.
Antelope High School acknowledged that the teen was a student at their institution and issued the following statement to parents:
“Nathan Gebreamlak was a student of ours and a member of the Antelope community. Student tragedies are absolutely heart-wrenching and remind all of us how truly fragile and precious life is. Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers go out to the Gebreamlak family during this time of sorrow.”
The school has arranged for counselors and the Wellness Center to be accessible to students who may require support and someone to talk to during this difficult time.
