A Clovis head-on crash killed one driver and injured another after two vehicles collided and caught fire on eastbound Highway 168.
A Clovis head-on crash occurred on eastbound Highway 168, resulting in the death of one driver.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at approximately 10:30 p.m., occurring roughly half a mile east of Shepherd.
At that location, Highway 168 had been reduced to a single lane in each direction, with no median separating the two roads.
The investigation revealed that a 32-year-old Prather man driving a Tesla Model Y traveled eastbound on Highway 168 and drifted into the oncoming lane for unknown reasons.
Unfortunately, the Tesla collided head-on with a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 59-year-old Prather resident, and eventually caught fire.
As a result, the Tesla driver died at the accident scene, while the Chevy driver sustained significant but non-life-threatening injuries.
Responders then subsequently transported the surviving driver to a hospital in the Fresno area.
Moreover, Caltrans had to close both the eastbound and westbound lanes of Highway 168 near the vicinity of 168 and Shepherd.
Furthermore, the involvement of alcohol or drugs in this Clovis head-on crash remains uncertain as investigators await the results of toxicology tests.
J&M Tip: Head-on collisions can lead to severe injuries or even fatalities due to the direct impact they involve. After such an incident, once you’ve received the necessary medical attention, you must contact a car accident lawyer for legal guidance and support.
