Bakersfield, CA (January 9, 2023) – Dennis Eric Byrd (58) was identified as the fatality in a hit-and-run crash involving multiple vehicles on Highway 178. According to Bakersfield Now, the was responded to around 10:25 pm on Friday.
An initial crash caused by a hit-and-run driver caused Dennis Eric Byrd to be struck again by multiple vehicles on Highway 178 in Bakersfield.
The California Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash involving a pedestrian and multiple vehicles on Highway 178 in Bakersfield.
Authorities then identified the victim as Dennis Eric Byrd of Bakersfield.
According to the CHP, Byrd was reportedly walking in the path of an unknown vehicle which then struck him and fled the scene.
The initial crash caused Byrd to land in the path of three oncoming vehicles. One of the drivers remained at the scene, while the other two traveled home but returned shortly after.
Right now, it is still not determined whether drugs or alcohol played a factor in this incident.
