Stanislaus County, CA (February 19, 2024) – A Highway 4 car crash in north Stanislaus County left two drivers, identified as Gurjot Kaur (21) of Stockton and Rudy Mercado (51) of Copperopolis fatal after colliding head-on. According to The Modesto, the crash occurred around 6:40 a.m. on Monday.

A Highway 4 car crash in north Stanislaus County resulted in the deaths of two drivers, identified as Gurjot Kaur, 21, of Stockton, and Rudy Mercado, 51, of Copperopolis.
According to California Highway Patrol Officer Tom Olsen, the fatal crash occurred west of Dunton Road, where Gurjot Kaur was driving an eastbound Honda sedan and attempted to pass a slower-moving vehicle ahead of her as she approached a left bend in the road.
Illegally crossing double solid yellow lines and with limited visibility due to the bend, Kaur’s vehicle collided head-on with a Toyota pickup driven by 51-year-old Rudy Mercado of Copperopolis.
Unfortunately, both Kaur and Mercado succumbed to their injuries at the scene of the collision.
Notably, the vehicle that Kaur was overtaking was not involved in this Highway 4 crash, resulting in the deaths of Gurjot Kaur and Rudy Mercado.
