Stockton, CA (August 8, 2023) – Roman Reyes Hernandez (34) succumbed to fatal injuries after being involved in a suspected DUI crash in Stockton. At least two passengers also sustained injuries from the collision. According to ABC10, the crash happened around midnight on August 5.

The California Highway Patrol responded to a suspected DUI crash in Stockton that left a male driver fatally injured.
The San Joaquin County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 34-year-old Roman Reyes Hernandez of Mexico. He had a family living in the United States.
According to the authorities, the collision occurred when a Dodge sedan on southbound Interstate 5 at March Lane in Stockton struck an SUV for unknown reasons.
Due to the impact of the collision, the SUV hit a center divider.
Unfortunately, the male driver died at the scene, while at least two passengers incurred minor injuries.
As the investigation continued, authorities arrested the DUI driver, identified as George Komure Elementary School Vice Principal Hollis Blake (54).
According to San Joaquin County Jail records, police charged Blake with vehicular manslaughter due to gross negligence, along with two counts of causing bodily injury through drunk driving. His bail is $1.25 million.
Blake has a court appearance slated for August 8 at 1:30 p.m.
As per the Manteca Unified School District, Blake has been a staff member in the school district since July 1, 2021. He is now on administrative leave and has a prohibition on his access to district premises and any interaction with staff, students, or community members.
Furthermore, Manteca Unified said George Komure Elementary will provide on-campus counseling services for social and emotional support regarding this suspected DUI crash in Kings County.
