Coronado, CA (August 18, 2022) – Sarai Olvera (26) of Anaheim was recently identified as the fatality in an alleged DUI crash near the 1100 block of Orange Avenue in Coronado. According to FOX 5 San Diego, the crash happened around 12:30 am on July 29.
Sarai Olvera was in the vehicle’s rear passenger seat when the crash in Coronado occurred.
The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s office has publicly identified the fatality in the alleged DUI crash near the 1100 block of Orange Avenue in Coronado that occurred on July 29.
The victim was identified as Sarai Olvera of Anaheim. Olvera was reported to be seated in the vehicle’s rear passenger seat during the crash.
According to the investigation, the driver lost control and crashed the car’s rear passenger side into a light pole. Responding paramedics pronounced Olvera dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the driver, now identified as Erwin Ramos-Mejia, sustained non-life-threatening injuries along with the other passenger.
Authorities reported that Mejia was later arrested and charged on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence invoking bodily injury. It also appears that alcohol and speed are factors in the crash.
However, this incident remains under investigation.
