A Sacramento hit-and-run resulted in the death of an 18-year-old pedestrian, identified by the California Highway Patrol as Shawn Jordan.
Meanwhile, the CHP’s North Sacramento office announced on Tuesday that they have identified a suspect vehicle in the hit-and-run collision.
According to the family of the victim, Shawn Jordan was walking in the bike lane along the guardrail, as the area lacked sidewalks when he was struck. The car then fled the scene, leaving Jordan with critical injuries on the road.
Unfortunately, despite being rushed to the hospital, Shawn Jordan succumbed to his injuries on June 20, four days after the crash.
Furthermore, police believe the vehicle is a red Mitsubishi Lancer, made between 2000 and 2003, with damage to the right front end. Specific damage may include a broken headlight, windshield, or passenger-side mirror.
The car was also last seen traveling northbound on Walerga Road near Penwith Way around the time of the crash and was later observed heading east on Don Julio Boulevard.
Initially, authorities thought the vehicle was a Toyota Corolla, but new evidence has pointed to the Mitsubishi Lancer.
Moreover, the police encourage anyone with information about this Sacramento hit-and-run involving Shawn Jordan to contact CHP’s North Sacramento office at 916-348-2300.

If you’re involved in a hit-and-run accident that results in injuries and damages, you can seek compensation for expenses like medical bills and vehicle repairs. However, not everyone involved in an accident is eligible to pursue such claims. You have the right to file a claim if:
- Another party’s wrongful actions caused the accident.

- You have evidence to support your claim.
To successfully file a claim, you must demonstrate that your injuries were caused by the other party’s negligence. In personal injury law, proving negligence involves the following elements:
- The other party had a duty to ensure everyone’s safety on the road.
- They breached this duty, such as by violating a traffic law.
- The breach of duty caused the accident.
- The accident resulted in injuries and other damages.
To establish negligence, you need to provide essential evidence, such as photos of the accident, the police report, and other types of proof. A hit-and-run accident lawyer can assist by examining your case and using their resources and expertise to gather evidence and protect your rights.
