Three Adults and a 21-Month-Old Child Suffered Injuries in a Suspected DUI Crash in Bakersfield of Kern County
Bakersfield, CA (September 14, 2022) – A suspected DUI accident in Bakersfield hospitalized four victims, including a 21-month-old child. According to KGET, the crash happened at around 12:30 am on Wednesday.
Three adults and a 21-month-old child suffered injuries in a suspected DUI Accident on Taft Highway and Old River Road in Bakersfield.
According to the California Highway Patrol, they received reports about a vehicle crashing into a home, which then caught fire on Taft Highway near Old River Road.
Then, responders and County Fire Station 53 crews arrived at the scene to put out the fire and rescue the home’s occupants. They also found four victims with injuries: Princedeep Joshan (25), Rajwinder Joshan (25), Balwinder Joshan (61), and 21-month-old Rohundeep Joshan. They were in the home and suffered injuries when the collision caused the ceiling to collapse.
Meanwhile, the vehicle’s driver Madison Williams (26), also sustained minor injuries. Authorities arrested Williams under suspicion of felony DUI. They took Williams to Kern County Jail with a scheduled court date on Friday.
Princedeep’s sister Suman Joshan shared with KGET that the 21-month-old child suffered severe injuries, including a fractured skull and broken arm. She said, “I’m here in the hospital with a 22-month-old baby, and he’s broken. Nobody should have to see a child, whether it’s their child or someone else’s child, go through this.”
She also shared that Balwinder Joshan got everyone out of the home after the crash. The hospital released him on Wednesday.
Suman also spoke about multiple collisions in the area in two years. She pressed the city to do something about it, such as installing a traffic light at Taft Highway and Old River Road, to prevent similar crashes in the future. Further details about this collision are currently unavailable.
