A Tulare County car crash tragically claimed the life of a 39-year-old woman from Bakersfield, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The report revealed the CHP responded to a crash reported on Highway 99 and Avenue 96.
Upon investigating, they discovered that the woman was driving a 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander southbound on Highway 99, just south of Avenue 96.
As she approached, a parked and unoccupied 2002 CALTRANS Freightliner Dump Truck was located in the center median ahead of her.
Officials explained that, at the time, the Freightliner Dump Truck was parked within a repair zone used by CALTRANS for fixing guardrails.
Although both southbound lanes were open for traffic, traffic cones blocked the center median shoulder.
Unfortunately, the CHP found that the driver veered across the cone pattern and crashed into the rear of the parked Dump Truck. Consequently, the woman died at the scene.
Currently, investigators are trying to determine the cause of this Tulare County car crash.
