Fallen Tree on Highway 101 Caused Multiple Crashes in Aromas, Ezequiel Sanchez Identified as One of the Two Fatalities
Aromas, CA (December 11, 2022) – Ezequiel Sanchez (28) of Gonzales and a 50-year-old Arizona man were identified as the fatalities in the multiple Highway 101 crashes due to a fallen tree in Aromas. According to KION546, the crash happened around 3:30 am on Sunday.
A fallen tree on Highway 101 caused multiple crashes and two fatalities in Aromas. Ezequiel Sanchez was identified as one of the fatalities involved.
The California Highway Patrol Hollister-Gilroy reported fatal multiple crashes due to a fallen tree on Highway 101 in Aromas.
According to CHP, a eucalyptus tree fell on a southbound Prius in the number two lane. All three occupants of the vehicle reportedly suffered moderate to major injuries.
The Prius then remained in the southbound lane with the tree propped up. Sometime later, a southbound GMC truck in lane one crashed into the tree.
The GMC truck solo driver died at the scene.
The third crash happened when a southbound BMW in lane one also hit the same tree. A driver and a passenger then sustained major injuries.
Unfortunately, the other passenger in the BMW died.
One of the confirmed fatalities was Ezequiel Sanchez of Gonzales. The other was only identified as a 50-year-old Arizona man; he was believed to be working in the area.
Authorities are yet to determine which cars both fatalities were in at the time of the crash.
