One Person Sustained Major Injuries In Vasco Road Crash Involving a Truck and a Van
Livermore, CA (September 13, 2023) – One person sustained major injuries after a van crashed into the back of an agricultural truck in a Vasco Road crash. According to The Press, the crash occurred around 11:00 am on Wednesday.

The authorities responded to a collision between an agricultural truck and a delivery van, leaving one person in critical condition, suffering moderate to severe injuries.
The incident closed both lanes of Vasco Road, three miles north of the Alameda County line, past Camino Diablo.
The California Highway Patrol stated that the delivery van crashed into the rear of an agricultural tractor-trailer.
Subsequently, the truck, experiencing mechanical failure, stalled and stopped in the second lane heading south on Vasco Road.
Unfortunately, the van driver couldn’t react to the stalled truck in time.
Attempting to pull into the right-side breakdown lane, the driver misjudged the available space and crashed head-on into the truck’s rear.
CHP Sgt. Amirsh Kansupda detailed how the big rig driver encountered clutch and overheating problems, leading to the truck’s halt.
Consequently, the driver activated emergency flashers and exited the truck to place emergency triangles. It was during this moment that the van rear-ended the truck.
Rescue personnel found the van driver conscious but trapped, needing extrication. The injured driver was airlifted to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek.
By 2 p.m., authorities reopened all lanes of Vasco Road.
