Responding officers found a woman with major injuries. She was then pronounced dead at the scene. The Kern County Coroner’s Office identified her as Vivian Lajoy Pope of Bakersfield.
According to investigators, the vehicle involved fled the scene following the crash. It was only described as a dark sedan.
