Highway 116 Head-On Crash Left a Man with Fatal Injuries in Petaluma
Petaluma, CA (August 2, 2023) – A man from Sebastopol sustained fatal injuries in a Highway 116 head-on crash in Petaluma. According to The Press Democrat, officers responded to the crash around 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
A Highway 116 head-on crash involving four vehicles left a Sebastopol man dead east of Old Adobe Road in Petaluma.
The Napa California Highway Patrol responded to a Highway 116 head-on crash that claimed the life of a Sebastopol man after a moving van collided with his vehicle on State Route 116, located east of Old Adobe Road in Petaluma.
According to CHP officer Jaret Paulson, the collision occurred when a sizable Freightliner box van, traveling east, inexplicably veered into the westbound lanes, sideswiping a 2016 Lexus IS200.
Subsequently, the van continued eastward in the westbound lane, colliding head-on with the Camaro and eventually striking the Jeep.
Following the collision, the Camaro driver from Sebastopol suffered fatal injuries. Unfortunately, he later died at the scene despite an emergency response.
The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office will reveal the victim’s identity once they inform his family.
Meanwhile, the other two drivers sustained minor to moderate injuries. One of them, a woman operating a 2018 Jeep Patriot, was immediately transported by ambulance to Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital in Santa Rosa.
On the other hand, the driver of the moving van remained unharmed from the collision.
Moreover, CHP authorities promptly closed State Route 116 from Old Adobe Road to Watmaugh Road for approximately five and a half hours to conduct a comprehensive investigation and clear the area.
At this stage, investigators are still determining the cause of this Highway 116 head-on crash, although police believe that drugs or alcohol did not play a role in this accident.
