The crash involving two vehicles occurred at approximately 6 p.m. in the 1500 block of Sepulveda Boulevard at Ohio Avenue.
According to the authorities, a Honda Civic traveling northbound on Sepulveda Boulevard collided with a BMW i4. The collision caused the red sedan to be forced into a grassy area adjacent to the main road, while the white sedan seemed to have rotated out of control.
Firefighters were called to the scene and extricated two individuals trapped in each vehicle.
According to an update released by the police on Sunday, responders transported the driver and passenger of the BMW to a local hospital; however, they both succumbed to their injuries.
Meanwhile, police took the Honda driver to the hospital in critical condition.
Additionally, two uninvolved individuals sustained minor injuries during the rescue efforts to free the trapped patients. They chose not to receive medical attention or transportation for these injuries.
Initially, law enforcement had been investigating this Westwood car crash as a possible DUI incident.
