A 12-year-old boy sustained major injuries after being hit by a Chevy truck in a Kings County car crash.
The California Highway Patrol responded to a car crash involving a Chevy truck and a 12-year-old boy near Gale and 28th Avenues.
Authorities said the 12-year-old boy sustained significant injuries and was treated at Valley Children’s Hospital.
According to the police, the boy was riding his off-road vehicle and crossed Gale Avenue when a Chevy truck collided with him.
Based on the report, the driver tried to hit his brake to avoid hitting the boy. However, the vehicle still hit him.
Police also mentioned an obstruction in the area caused the driver and the boy not to see each other.
Furthermore, the Chevy driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
Authorities believe that drugs or alcohol are not a factor in this Kings County car crash.
J&M Tip: Sometimes, neither the driver nor the pedestrian is liable for a car accident. You could file a claim against a local agency if they failed to maintain the road, which caused the crash.

More About Car Accident Liability
Various circumstances of the car accident can pinpoint the liability of damages. In some instances, thorough investigations can reveal careless behavior. This can include the simple act of recklessly turning or cutting in front of another vehicle. In terms of determining who is at fault for an accident, this can be defined by common law. Any Sacramento or Los Angeles car accident lawyer recognizes that fault has four basic levels:
- Negligence
- Recklessness (wanton conduct)
- Intentional misconduct
- Strict liability
However, different state laws can have variations of applicable traffic laws. For example, in some states, multiple drivers can be liable for an accident. This is why thorough investigations are important after a car accident. Having a strong case showing the liability of the at-fault party can help guarantee your compensation. Likewise, a car crash attorney can also help you determine all your options, so you can fully recover from the accident. Learn more about car accident lawyers in California here.
