Santee, CA (October 11, 2021) – Steve Krueger, 61, was killed after a fatal plane crash near Greencastle Street and Jeremy Street that hit his vehicle and burned down two homes. Ten other homes were damaged.
The collision was reported around 12:15 p.m. Police and paramedics responded to the scene shortly thereafter. Yuma Cardiologist, Dr. Sugata Das, was the owner and pilot of the twin-engine Cessna C340 that crashed into the Santee neighborhood.
Police and first responders found Krueger in his UPS truck where he had been driving along his regular route when he was struck by a fireball from the crash.
Kreueger was not transported to a hospital and was pronounced dead at the scene. The circumstances of the crash are not clear and under investigation.
