Andre Retana Killed After Getting Hit by a Construction Truck on El Camino Real in Mountain View
Mountain View, CA (March 31, 2022) – Andre Retana (13) was identified as the victim of a pedestrian accident involving a construction truck in Mountain View. According to NBC, the incident happened at around 8:15 am on Thursday (March 17).
Teenager Andre Retana was on his way to school when the collision happened.
According to police, Retana rode his bike on the way to school on El Camino Real. Then, he fell off his bike and into the truck driver’s blind spot. The truck crashed into the teenager at the intersection of El Camino Real and Grant Road.
Responders treated Retana at the scene before taking him to a hospital. However, he was later pronounced dead in the hospital.
In a letter to the community, police called the accident a “tragic incident.” The letter stated, “Ultimately, the investigation revealed that this was an extremely tragic incident in which 13-year-old Andre Retana fell off his bicycle in front of the construction truck after riding up in front of the vehicle from the right side blind spot.”
