Highway 119 Pedestrian Crash Left 34-Year-Old Taft Man Fatal
Bakersfield, CA (September 11, 2023) – A 34-year-old man from Taft succumbed to fatal injuries in a Highway 119 pedestrian crash. According to Taft Midway Driller, the crash occurred around early Saturday.
A 34-year-old Taft man succumbed to fatal injuries after a vehicle struck him in a Highway 119 pedestrian crash.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a pedestrian was struck by a Chevrolet Impala while walking in the southbound traffic lane.
The driver of the Impala tried to avoid hitting the pedestrian by swerving to the left but ended up hitting him with the right front of the car.
Jeffery R. Russinsky of Bakersfield, the driver of the Impala, suffered minor injuries but did not need to be taken to the hospital.
Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to fatal injuries at the accident scene.
As a result, Highway 119 was closed for approximately 90 minutes between Harrison and Midway Road.
The CHP stated that drugs and alcohol were not factors in the collision.
The investigation is ongoing, and any witnesses with information are encouraged to contact the Buttonwillow area CHP office.
