The California Highway Patrol reported a Highway 12 truck crash in Calaveras County that left a driver with minor injuries.
According to Fire Chief Rich Dickinson of Calaveras Consolidated Fire District, the truck fishtailed, shifted back on the roadway, and overcorrected, causing it to roll over.
Following the incident, the fuel truck driver sustained minor injuries, and emergency responders brought him to the hospital; they confirmed he remained conscious and attentive at the scene.
Dickinson mentioned that the truck, owned by Hunt and Sons of Sacramento, carried approximately 7,600 gallons of diesel. Crews must unload any remaining fuel that was not spilled before they can reposition the vehicle.
Moreover, CHP officers stated that the spill posed no threat to the crews or the nearby community.
Due to the crash, authorities advised drivers to take Burson Road and Camanche Parkway South as an alternate route while the freeway remained inaccessible for a significant portion of the day.
Furthermore, the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services also responded at the scene, and the authorities are investigating the cause of the Highway 12 truck crash.
J&M Tip: Various factors can contribute to a truck accident, such as the actions of a negligent truck driver, the trucking company’s failure in oversight, or the involvement of other accountable parties at the time of the crash, contingent upon the particular circumstances.

More About Truck Accident Liability
When it comes to truck accidents, the person or entity that owns the truck can become liable for the incident. Truck drivers usually have contract-based work relationships with their employers. Truck drivers can also end up in a legal mess if investigations determine that they violated trucking standards, causing the accident.
During the investigations, other contributing factors might be uncovered, like driver’s fatigue or maintenance failure. Federal and state trucking laws impose standards on truck driver work hours, speed limits, and driver sleep requirements, which must be met. If investigations find any violations of these standards, more parties can become liable for the incident.
